I'm pretty certain that it's an SZBE whistle. They are made in Japan and I know Hatao plays them. And from what I can see the appearance is consistent with that of an SZBE.

Magnificent playing Hatao, and total respect to your guitar collaborator. I love the lively variations that you get into both parts of the reel and that sneaky bending of the note in the final part. But how come you need to breathe less than other people! If I'm ever over in Japan I will try to come down to your session. Kyoto or Tokyo?
